Scottish comedian Billy Connolly has joined the growing list of movie actors
who earn more than $1m dollars a film. Connolly is to earn this mammoth
fee when he stars in a new movie based on the Lemony Snicket children's books 'A
Series of Unfortunate Events'.
The comic, who was recently presented a CBE at the Palace, is to star as
Uncle Monty, alongside a star-cast that includes Jim Carrey, Meryl Streep and
Jude Law.
Connolly reportedly joked to a friend: "What does $1m buy you these days
anyway?"
