In a curious twist of fate, the Hitchkikers
Guide To The Galaxy film has taken £4.2m between last Thursday and Bank
Holiday Monday.
Experienced HHGTTG fans will of course already be chortling, but for the rest
of us you wish to pay attention to the clear and blatant '42' in the previous
sentence.
'42' is, if you remember, the Answer. The Answer to Life! The Universe!
Everything! Which is one of the finest and silliest of all Douglas
Adams jokes about the stupidity of the Universe. This answer took several
million years to think up, and when challenged on it the computer Deep Thought
pointed out that no-one's ever really sorted out exactly what the question
was.
The only other comedy film in the top 5 this week was The Wedding
Date.
