Dreamworks has announced their
preparations for a third (and probable final) installment in the Ben
Stiller/Robert De Niro Meet The ... films and, going from the working title,
the concept isn’t a tricky one to grasp and pretty predictable.
Meet The Little Focker
(remember the Father of the Bride
series?)
Presumably Gaylord and Martha Focker
have procreated and produced an offspring but what with Jack Burns now sexually
liberated and finally accepting of his extended family it’s hard to think that
they could get him to regress back into the mistrusting, paranoid snob from
whence the majority of De Niro’s comedy was derived from. Perhaps Dreamworks
will be relying on the show-stealing turns of father and mother Focker played by
Dustin Hoffman and Barbra Streisand to carry the mantle.
Cynics may say that this particular
comedy well was near dried up with Meet The Fockers but only time will
tell if they are focking a dead horse with this
one.
