Walt Disney has agreed to buy Pixar for around £4.1 billion, meaning that
fans can continue to look forward to fantastic animated films (with all the
comedy that entails) such as The Incredibles and Toy Story.
Disney's distribution deal with Pixar ended this year, following the release
of Cars (starring the voices of Owen Wilson and Paul Newman, amongst a host of
others), and there were concerns that the two would not be able to agree on a
new deal.
However, Disney's new boss Robert Iger has been working to revive relations
between the two companies and now Steve Jobs will be joining Disney's board of
directors.
Frankly, so long as the quality stays high I couldn't care less who owns
Pixar. However, if Disney can let them loose and not just amalgamate and
destroy, and so as we see more stuff of the quality of Toy Story and less of
Hercules, it'll be good things all round.
