In recent times, a book was written about the so-called Secret Society of
Pickup Artists, detailing exactly how this society went through the 'art' of
picking up women.
It was written by Neil Strauss and called The Game: Penetrating the Secret
Society of Pickup Artists, and introduced some phrases I hope I never actually
hear anyone using in real life - AFCs (average frustrated chumps), FMAC (find,
meet, attract, complete) to name but two.
It was, of course, a huge success, and now Chris Weitz (responsible for the
American Pie films) is taking this book, adapting it and producing the film
version. There's no director or cast attached yet, but it's either going to be a
Vince Vaughn/Owen Wilson style comedy, or, with a bit a luck, a slightly more
intelligent take on the whole thing.
