Vince Vaughn, the lovable goofball from Dodgeball amongst many other
recent and hugely successful films, is possibly going to be joining the $20m a
film club with a film called Fred Claus.
No real details yet, other than the Fred of the title is Santa's loser
brother. Now, you can critcise me for speculation if you want, but I'm guessing
that Fred here is going to wind up standing in for the real Father Christmas in
some way.
It sounds like a good idea, and if it's written and performed well it should
be a smash. Vaughn is exactly the right kind of guy to pull of both the
sad-loser and heroic-winner, and if he becomes the leading man of American Film
Comedy then I personally am all for it.
