Pratchett fans rejoice! Not only is Hogfather to be
made into a TV special starring David Jason, it has also emerged that The Wee
Free Men is going to be a film. Not a film with some no-name director, either,
but with Sam Raimi at the head.
Raimi, of course, is the director of The Evil Dead film but more
recently has done a fantastic job with the Spiderman franchise.
The Wee Free Men concerns Tiffany, a young farm girl from the Ramtop
Mountains of Discworld. She's a little too smart for her own good, perhaps - but
when her younger brother is kidnapped by the Queen of the Fairies then she
decides, in her own no-nonsense way, to get her back. She is aided by the Nac
Mac Feegle, who are about one inch high, bright blue, and speak in a dialect
that is vaguely familiar to those who have ever been to, say, Glasgow.
But they're not Scottish. Oh no. They're Pictsies.
Further news on casting and so on as we get it.
