The UK comedy film scene can't resist a bit of nostalgia it seems, nor is it
averse to following the current trend of remakes and sequels. For it has been
announced that the Carry On franchise is to be resurrected.
Oh, matron, indeed.
Fourteen years after the last one wowed, er, hardly anybody, Intandem Films
have announced that Carry On London will be shot in and around the capital this
summer.
It will be directed by Peter Richardson of the Comic Strip Presents fame and
will star, amongst others, Shame Richie, Vinny Jones and Victoria Silvstedt
(yes, she'll be the blonde one who almost certainly ends up taking her clothes
off).
Carry On London follows Lenny's Limos, who are hired to take celebrities to a
new film awards ceremony. However, in true style, all shall descend into a
hurricane of corny gags, slapstick humour and innuendo as the cast of gangsters,
starlets and three hapless drivers career through the West End of
London.
