Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Man's
Chest has held on to the number one spot in the UK
film charts this week, keeping Superman Returns from the top
spot.
The swashbuckling-comedy-adventure-thriller-tragedy took another £6m over the
weekend, with Superman (on thirty seven fewer screens, fact fans) taking
£4.3m.
Pirates stars Bill Nighy (pictured), Orlando Bloom, Keira Knightely and some
chap called Johnny Depp.
The budget for Superman Returns (starring Brandon Routh and Kevin Spacey) is
estimated at £109m, to put things in perspective.
Over comedy films in the top ten this weeks include Bollywood film Golmaal,
arriving at number eight and animated film Over The Hedge which has now
taken £8.7m in the UK alone.
This all, of course, shows that far from being a nation that refuses to go to
the cinema we are in fact a nation that loves to go to the cinema.
So long as the World Cup isn't on.
And there are some decent films to see.
