A
show called 'I have a cunning plan : 20 years of Blackadder' was due to be
broadcast on Radio 4 two months ago. But it was pulled at the last minute
when renowned socialist 'lefty' comic Ben Elton decided he wasn't quite rich
enough yet. Writers Ben Elton and Richard Curtis, who own the rights to
Blackadder, were unhappy about the amount of money that the BBC was
offering for the rights to the Blackadder footage to be used as clips in the
show.
We're not entirely sure why Ben Elton needed more money. It probably
had something to do with a desire to feed and clothe his family and keep a roof
over his head, but that's not very funny, so instead we'll make up some biting
quip about buying diamond encrusted Fabergé Eggs from Andrew Lloyd-Webber.
However, our reliable sources inform us that the dispute has now been
settled. So expect to hear the show on Radio 4 on Saturday 23rd August at
10:30.
