The BBC have signed a £250,000 deal with Jonathan Ross for a fifth series of his chat show, which over the last few years has featured some very impressive celebrity guests, and Charlotte Church.

The Friday night chat show, hosted by Mr Ross and cunningly titled "Friday Night With Jonathan Ross", attracts around five million viewers per episode.

Speaking to the News of the World today, a BBC insider said "Everyone's happy with the deal.  It may seem a lot but it's felt that he's worth every penny."

There will be 28 episodes in all, starting with 14 in the Autumn and a further 14 in the Spring.  Before the nerdier of you rush off to find a calculator, that's £8928.571428 recurring per episode.
