Actor Hank Azaria has been given
a globey-angel-type-trophy thing to go on his
mantlepiece alongside the three globey-angel-type-trophy things he has been given before. The Emmy
Award, which is the television industry's equivalent of an Oscar, has been
awarded to Azaria for his work in the Simpsons.
It's the third time Azaria has won the Emmy award for "Voice-over perfomance
in animation" for his work on the animated sitcom, in which he provides the
voices for a number of characters including Comic Book Guy, Moe Szyslak, Apu
Nahasapeemapetilon and Police Chief Wiggum among others.
He also received a best supporting actor Emmy in 1999 for his performance
opposite Jack Lemmon in the TV drama "Tuesdays with Morrie".
Awards for work in animation are announced in advance of the main award
ceremony which takes place in Los Angeles on 21 September. Hank will have
to wait until then to find out if he'll need to bin some family photographs to
make room for a yet another Emmy on his mantlepiece, as he is also
nominated for his guest performance in the sitcom "Friends" this
year.
