Digital Television channel Bravo has announced its first venture in producing
comedy programmes. Bravo has been re-running comedy programmes on networks
such as BSkyB for the best part of a decade, but surprisingly this is their
first departure into making their own comedy production.
The show will be a compilation featuring clips from some of Britains
best loved stand-up performances. The 15 episodes will be presented by
'Cold Feet' star and former stand-up John Thomson, with each 30 minute show
based around a different theme.
The programme will be produced by Bob Geldof's company, Ten Alps, and
features clips from comedians such as Eddie Izzard and Tommy Cooper,
amoungst other well known comics.
A spokesman for Bravo said: "Incredibly, this has never been done
before." However, we feel that a compilation programme featuring short
comedy clips probably has been done before, possibly many
times. It is things like 'Attaching a Chicken to a gas-meter with a
nail gun soaked in jelly' that are more likely to have 'Never been done
before.' Bravo spokes-people are apparently easily confused by the two
things.
'John Thomson Stands Up for Comedy' starts on Bravo on 2nd December.
