Camp funnyman Graham Norton is to jump-ship from Channel 4 as soon as
his contract expires in April. Norton has signed an exclusive
two-and-a-half year UK deal to work for the BBC.
His five-night-a-week chat show 'V Graham Norton' will be trimmed back to one
night a week, which will be recorded in America. This comes on the back of
the news that Norton has also signed a seven-figure deal with Comedy Central in
the States.
It is hoped that this new, less frequent show, being based in America will
help it to attract more 'A List' guests.
BBC1 controller Lorraine Heggessey, said: "We've made no secret of our
admiration of Graham and I'm thrilled that he feels that BBC1 can offer him the
space to grow creatively. I'm convinced he will delight viewers of all ages at
the heart of the Saturday night schedule."
