In an interview with yesterday's Sunday Times, comedian Dylan Moran broke the
news that comedy fans had been dreading, and if they hadn't been dreading it, or
even thinking about it, they damn well should have been.
After three excellent series the acclaimed "Black Books", written by and
starring Moran and co-starring Bill Bailey and Tamsin Grieg, has come to an
end.
"I think we've done it, and people enjoyed it," commented Moran, "and
that's what we were after. There's a risk of undermining the whole enthusiasm we
had at the outset. So I'm pleased we got out intact."
He is now looking to to further his acting and writing careers. Having
already starred in one of the best British films in years, Shaun
of the Dead, he hopes to turn his attention to writing a novel.
"I want a solo project." he said, "Something I won't be able to blame anybody
else for if it goes wrong. Anyway, it's inevitable. I'm a comedian, of course
I'm going to write a f***ing novel. There are comedians being born and finding
letters from publishers waiting in the hospital."
