TV impressionist Alistair McGowen has announced that he will be ending
his successful series "Big Impression" because he has run out of ideas. McGowen
has said that he and his co-star Ronni Ancona will do one more "Big Impression",
a Christmas special, before calling the show to a close.
He claims that his reason for calling quits is that he has simply run out of
new celebrities to impersonate and has run out of fresh material for all his
usual personalities. However, we can't help but think that, since
this sort of show is largely based on topical humour, he could simply wait for
events to occur, which would provide more material, such is the nature of
time.
He told TV Times: “We're pretty sure we've done our last series. We decided
we wanted to do other things. We've got one show at Christmas and after that we
don't really know.
But we want to move on because we've impersonated so
many stars now. We need to go away and refresh ourselves a little bit.”
