Yet Another Channel 4 Poll

Little Britain 2

A new Channel 4 poll has declared Little Britain the series with the funniest sketch of all time.

The sketch in question is the one in which supposedly wheelchair-bound Andy leaps off the top diving board as his minder, Lou, is telling attendants that Andy will have trouble getting itnto the water.

The show's co-star David Walliams, who plays Lou, said: "I think people have voted this sketch number one because we are in our swimming costumes and I think that ultimately that's what people want to see.

"It's amazing that people seem to like it. And when we die - and we will - that will be the sketch they will probably play on the news."

The Dead Parrot sketch (which surpsingly came fourth in another recent poll of Python sketches, for those of you keeping score) came in second, with the legendary Fork Handles sketch from the Two Ronnies in fith.

Complete Top Ten below:

1. Little Britain: Lou & Andy - Swimming Pool

2. Monty Python's Flying Circus: Dead Parrot

3. The League of Gentlemen: Tubbs & Edward - Road Men

4. Little Britain: Vicky Pollard - Swimming Pool

5. The Two Ronnies: Four Candles

6. Goodness Gracious Me: Going For An English

7. Victoria Wood - As Seen On TV: Acorn Antiques - Original

8.The Morecambe & Wise Show: Breakfast

9. The Fast Show: Ted & Ralph - Drinking Game

10. Brass Eye: Good Aids/Bad Aids

Personally, I think that this poll simply reflects that Little Britain is currently the coolest thing on TV. When a currently running program wins in a poll like this - a poll of only 32,000 people - it reflects more on the people that bothered to vote than it does on any kind of actual truth. I like Little Britain, but we'll get a much better view of how good and how funny it actually is when it's finished.
