The award nominations
for the 2004 - 2005 Emmys were announced on 14th July and feature a fine array of British
talent.
Desperate Housewives director Charles
McDougall is up for Outstanding Directing For A Comedy Series against Will & Grace, Monk and Everybody Loves Raymond.
Da Ali G Show is up for a number of
gongs including Outstanding Directing For A Variety, Music Or Comedy Program;

Variety, Music Or Comedy Program. Sacha Baron Cohen is up for personal awards in
the last two categories but the show has tough competition against the likes of
Late Show With David Letterman and The Daily Show With Jon
Stewart.
Ricky Gervais and Stephen
Merchant are in the running for an Outstanding Writing For A Miniseries, Movie
Or A Dramatic Special Emmy for The Office
Special which is also up for Outstanding Made For Television Movie against
The Life And Death Of Peter Sellers
in both categories which in itself has been nominated for a staggering 16
categories.
Hugh Laurie has obviously made a
good impression on the American public with his misanthropic doctor in Bryan
Singer’s House as he is up against
Kiefer Sutherland, Hank Azaria, Ian McShane and James Spader.
The full list of nominations can
be found at http://www.emmys.tv/downloads/index.php and the ceremony is being

probably be totally overlooked.
