What could have been an invasion of British comedic forces upon this
year's Emmys ended, as predicted, to be nothing more than a false hope.
The odds seemed to be in our favour for something on Sunday 18th when the
winners were announced but here's the bad news.
Ricky Gervais and Stephen Marchent's two nominations for The Office:
Christmas Special came to nothing.
Sacha Baron Cohen's two nominations for Ali G In Da House drew a
blank.
Not even a British comedian playing an American doctor was worthy of a nod so
for Hugh Laurie's performance in House got snubbed.
The only notable wins that we may claim some tenuous association to were a
few awards for The
Life And Death Of Peter Sellers and the Outstanding Directing for a
Comedy Series going to Charles McDougall and his work on Desperate
Housewives.
The Daily Show won something and so did Everybody Loves
Raymond. If you're that interested all the results are at http://www.emmys.org/awards/primetimeawards.php.
