Harry Potter creator JK Rowling is to make an animated guest appearance in The Simpsons.

Rowling will lend her voice to the series along with Ian McKellen who, like Rowling, will play himself.

The Simpson family meet the pair when they travel to London.

The episode, called The Regina Monologues, will be broadcast in America in November or December.
