Paul O'Grady has ended his teatime battle with Richard and Judy...by signing
for Channel 4 to present his show there.
The UK comedy star, now equally well known in his own right as he is when
playing his alter ego Lilly Savage, has agreed a deal that sees him doing six
months of the year whilst the erstwhile R&J do the other six months.
To put it simply, Channel 4 were being beaten in the ratings by the Paul
O'Grady show and have snapped up the entertainer to make, in his own words
"Channel 4 the only place to be at teatime!" With the Simpsons following on
after, it's looking like 5pm til 6.30pm may well be the new primetime.
The show is likely to continue in the mould of the ITV version, with guests,
games, phone-ins and other silliness mixed up with a bit of stand-up and, no
doubt, Mr O'Grady getting caught out by the general
public.
