You may have heard recently that Friends could be back on our screens. The
rumour - and as yet, it is just a rumour - is that there will be four one-hour
specials starring all the original cast.
This rumour has gained ground today in that Kathleen Turner, who plays
Chandler's (Mathew Perry) transvestite father, has said "It's possible I could
reprise my role. I haven't got the dates yet, or anything, but I think so, I
hope so. They said it might be happening."
Over to the official Warner Bros spokeswoman:
"There is absolutely no truth in it - it's all rumour."
Personally, I think this is an attempt to see how much residual interest lies
in the comedy series - and with over eight million people tuning in to the final
episode in the UK alone there should be a fair amount - to see if it's worth
paying the six stars another whack of money to do it. Given that the six of them
were on at least $1m an episode by the time it all finished it'd cost a lot, but
probably it'd be worth it.
Time will tell.
