ITV has announced that a documentary celebrating the legendary puppet show
Spitting Image will be shown later this year.
Best Ever Spitting Image will look back at the show's most memorable moments,
featuring the best known puppets and sketches. We can confidently predict the
Royal Family will feature heavily, along with Baroness Thatcher.
The programme will also feature interviews from some of those on the
receiving end of the shows humour down the years, including Paul Daniels, Steve
"Interesting" Davis and Lord Heseltine, who has claimed that "In a sense
Spitting Image made me."
Spitting Image ran for twelve years, attracting audiences of up to fifteen
million at it's peak. In today's political climate, it could be said that the
time is right for a return of the show.
Writers and performers that have gone on to other things after the show
finished include Ian
Hislop, Steve
Coogan, Harry Enfield, Chris
Barrie and Alistair McGowan.
