Following on from the announcement that he'll be hosting the new series of
Bullseye this summer, UK comedy stalwart Dave Spikey (seen on Channel 4's Eight
Out Of Ten Cats, for example) is also to star in a one-off comedy about a firm
of painters and decorators.
The BBC are making the show, called Magnolia, and hope that the hour-long
one-off can be extended into a full series.
Spikey's father was a painter and decorator, and the inspiration for the show
apparently came from his mother.
"She asked me if I could write something using some of the stories that my
dad used to come home with."
The programme will be set in the comedians home area of the North West of
England.
