BBC2 and BBC4 comedy series The Thick Of It has picked up the award for Best
Comedy/Entertainment Show at the Broadcasting Press Guild.
The award, voted for by media journalists, is just rewards for a very well
recieved show detailing the career of Hugh Abbot (played by Chris Langham). He
is continually harassed by a policy enforcer played by Peter Capaldi and is
reliant on his not-very-reliable team of civil servants.
The show also picked up the Writers Award. Considering the writing team is
headed up by Armando Iannucci, who seems to have won more awards for satire than
the entirety of the cast of Mock The Week, this can't be too surprising.
However, it is still to be applauded.
Other notable awards at the ceremony were The Ed Reardon Show winning best
Radio Programme of the Year, Jonathan Ross picking up Radio Broadcaster of the
Year and Gillian Anderson winning Best Actress for Bleak
House.
