You wait around for an hour and then, all of a sudden, three Ricky
Gervais reports come along at once.
First was the snowballing production of the second series of
Extras.
Then is the big news that The Simpsons want his sardonic humour back for a second
episode.
Now Channel 4 have announced that Gervais is to get a four part series off
the back of his January interview with Curb Your Enthusiasm creator,
Larry David.
Ricky Gervais meets … will give him the chance to chew the comedy
fat with Christopher Guest, Garry Shandling and another two, so far, unnamed
comedy gods.
Christopher Guest is largely responsible for the mockumentary style films
including Spinal Tap, Best In Show and forthcoming For
Your Consideration in which, Gervais himself has a role.
Garry Shandling may be better known as talk show host, Larry Sanders but has
been in the biz for over 30 years. If it hadn't been for the Garry Shandling
Show then Sean Hughes wouldn't have had a format to rip-off for his
Sean's Show. I'm not sure if that's such a great legacy or not,
though.
Anyway, Gervais said about Shandling, "He granted me a very rare interview.
So why the f**k did I tell him he looks like Bingo from The Banana Splits?"
Ricky Gervais meets …is due to be aired in June.
