It has been decided at the BBC that comedy Sports quiz They Think It's All
Over is not to be recommissioned.
The headline writes itself, really.
The show, originally hosted by Nick Hancock and featuring Gary Lineker and
David Gower as the two captains alongside an ever-changing line up of comedians
and sports, has been around for eleven years and twenty series.
Peter Fincham, controller of BBC One said "It re-wrote the rule book by
bringing comedy and sport together in a fresh and anarchic way."
"It's featured a great range of comedians rubbing shoulders with Olypmic gold
medalists and world champions, and has been sheer unadulterated fun."
The show at it's peak had audiences of around eight million, but that's
dropped to about three million more recently.
Notable games include Feel The Sportsman, a game in which two blindfolded
guests try to identify a well-known (or sometimes incredibly obscure but
mentioned earlier in the show) sportsperson using touch alone. Gary Lineker was
found to have been cheating during some episodes. Shame on
him.
