It has been announced that her cameo appearance in the last episode of
Dr Who was just a taster of things to come. Catherine Tate is to be taking a
more proactive role in this year's Christmas special.
Tate's part was limited to a sneak glimpse of her character-to-come in the
Tardis in full wedding dress. She is to play Donna in the special - a runaway
bride - and comes on board the time-travelling adventures just as Billie Piper's
character, Rose, has disembarked.
The Christmas episode is being filmed this summer and, although, she is
stepping in as a void in side-kickedness is created she isn't going to be a
permanent fixture. The Dr's full time companion is to be Freema Agyeman.
The episode writer, Russell T Davies, said, "Doctor Who and Catherine Tate is
just the most irresistible combination, a genuine treat for Christmas viewing.
"After two years of travelling with Rose, the Tardis is in for a bumpy ride
with Donna on board."
Could've been a bit more interesting had it
been her two-faced granny.
