Chris Morris seems to have gone quiet over the past few years, since
his controversial Brass Eye special. His last outing brought outrage and
hatred from The Daily Mail-reading establishment, for what was in truth one of
the bravest and most scathing satires against media hysteria in recent
years.
The star and creator of comedy series' such as Brass Eye and The Day Today is
now reported to be working in collaboration with Charlie Brooker, who runs
website "TV Go Home", which itself is a satire targeting broadcasting and
media. The pair have recently completed work on a non-broadcasting pilot,
with the final series expected to follow on Channel 4.
Although the new series is shrouded in secrecy, most would expect, given the
previous offerrings from these writers, that there will be a fair amount of
controversial satire in the new series. We wholeheartedly expect the Daily
Mail (a Newspaper with a unique position in in british journalism - being
aimed at readers who have too much class to read a tabloid but too few brain
cells to engage in a real broadsheet), will probably already have stopped the
presses, poised to begin damning whatever Morris is preparing to offer
us.
