From the title of this news story you would be
forgiven for thinking that Jo Brand
had killed The Simpsons, possibly using a combination of sharp implements
and small-arms fire. But you would be wrong, as usual.
What we are actually referring to is that veteran
comedian Jo Brand is to
host a new show, which is to knock The Simpsons off of it's long-held BBC2 6pm
slot. You see, it makes sense now. Jo only slaughters cute cartoon
characters as a hobby, never professionally. Glad we cleared that up.
The new show, called 'Nobody Likes a Smart Arse', has been described as "A
quiz show with teeth" by the BBC (or possibly by dentists, we're not sure
which). It features a team of four self-confessed smart-arses, including
one celebrity panellist who put their egos on the line and their expertise to
the test battling it out against a studio audience.
Jo
Brand will be asking the questions, and celebrity guests will include
sports journalist Danny Kelly, film critic James King, maths guru Simon Singh,
art critic Robin Simon, music broadcaster Stuart Maconie and historian Shaun
Wallace. The show starts at 6pm this Monday on
BBC2.
