Like many other succesful UK TV shows, The Office is to be adapted for the
US. A deal is being discussed that would see Greg Daniel, co-creator of animated
series King Of The Hill, adapt the show for the US market.
Although the show is yet to be offered to any US networks, the original UK
version has been generating enough interest in the US for this to work.
Let's hope they don't miss the point entirely. Funny.co.uk remembers fondly
the US adaptation of Fawlty Towers. You remember - the one without Basil
Fawlty.
We fully expect, in true American style, that the U.S. edition of the show
will have some vital element removed (like "The Boss", or "The Office"), and may
end up being about a single female woman who lives in New York and writes for a
newspaper or magazine and has some zany friends, or a talking pie, or something.
But that's just creative licence on their part, of course.
