When BBC sit-com "The
Office " wakes up on Christmas morning and looks in it's
stocking it will probably find a few million people more than it was
expecting. Being a television show it obviously can't "wake up" as such,
and doesn't have a stocking, or even tights, but that's the beauty of
metaphors.
BBC have seen fit to move the hit comedy to BBC 1 and
make the two part christmas
special, that is currently in production, the centrepiece of their festive
schedule
.
Star and writer Ricky
Gervais has said that the two 40 minute episodes will
be the last. Co-writer Stephen Merchant added that they would consist of
"the same jokes, but with tinsel and David Brent in a Santa outfit".
The
Office is one of BBC 2's most successful shows and the BBC have decided
to make the switch to BBC 1 to ensure the show gets the highest viewing figures
possible for it's final bow. We will definately be
watching!
