Three of the biggest selling comedy artists in this years Edinburgh Fringe
Festival have been booked for an event that is to discuss the sorry state of
comedy on British television.
In an age when nice, safe, family, friendly, lovely, lovely, sitcoms are
prevalent, such as the BBC's shockingly mundane My Family which I believe
is now about to run into it's 1,000th series. Incidentally, My Family is
voted as the 2nd most popular television comedy by Funny.co.uk registered
users. 5,000 people can't be wrong, except in this case, when you all
are.
So, evidently, the trio will have a lot to talk about. The three
comedians, who will consist of Jo Brand, Ross Noble and Bill Bailey, will be
speaking at the debate on 24th August, which will be called "Comedy on the Box -
Who has the Last Life?". They will discuss their personal experiences of
working in television comedy, sharing stories and anecdotes of working with TV
executives.
Editors Note - In the Funny.co.uk Comedy Shop related products panel to the
right of this story we attempted to add My Family as a related DVD, but our supplier
informs us that apparently it is not available on DVD - (maybe it's not good
enough?). So rather than add related products for the excellent DVDs available
from Bill Bailey, Jo Brand or Ross Noble instead, we will leave this box empty
and looking silly as a solemn reminder of how wrong you all
are.
