BBC 1's latest comedy creation will soon be going into production and
should appear on our screens sometime in 2004, which is next year for those of
you who weren't sure.
"Worst Week Of My Life" is being made by a new production company called
"Gasp" who are a joint venture between "Have I Got News For You" producer "Hat
Trick" and the trio of Anil Gupta, Sharat Sardana and Richard Pinto who, between
them, hold impressive credits such as "The Kumars at No. 42" and "The
Office". With such a good pedigree behind it we are certainly
intrigued.
The new sitcom will feature one half of double act "Armstong & Miller",
and one whole of himself, Ben Miller, as a groom in the week leading up to his
wedding. Needless to say everything that can go wrong does go wrong
"with hillarious consequences™".
Each episode of the seven part series will cover one day, as special agent
Jack Bauer attempts to save Los Angeles from a nuclear bomb, or am I thinking of
something else?
The show has been described by it's producer, the BBC's controller of
entertainment commissioning, Jane Lush, as "Planes, Trains and
Automobiles for weddings". She went on to say,
"It's the week of his life when he's getting married and it's just a
catalogue of mishaps,"
"We see him at work but a lot of the action takes places at his in-laws.
It's about the planning of his wedding,"
"All the worst nightmares and faux pas you can imagine with your in-laws
befall him. The humour is very visual."
