One of the BBC's newest Channels, BBC7 is currently celebrating its
first birthday. The Digital-&-Internet-only service runs a popular mix
of Comedy, Drama and Books, along with some Childrens programming.
Coinciding with its one year anniversary the BBC have announced that the channel
will now be broadcasting 24 hours a day 7 days a week (it previously closed at
3am).
Talking about the digital radio station, which now has over a quarter of a
million listeners, head of programmes Mary Kalemkerian said: "BBC 7's addictive
mix of archive comedy, drama and books is proving a great hit with our
listeners, so we decided to give them more of what they like and extend
broadcasting right through the night."
