The BBC has announced that Radio 4 will be completing the 'Hitchhikers Guide
to the Galaxy ' saga in a new radio series. The 14-part dramatisation
will be based on Douglas Adams' final three books: Life, The Universe
and Everything; So Long and Thanks For All the Fish; and Mostly Harmless.
But that's not all. The late author, who died in 2001 at the
age of 49, will be playing a role in the new series himself.
Just 18 months before is death, Adams recorded some sample readings of the part
of 'Agrajag' in a studio at his home. The recordings will now be digitally
remastered to include them in Radio 4's new shows.
Five members of of the cast of the original series, which first
broadcast in 1978, are also taking part in the new series. Simon
Jones will be returning as Arthur Dent and Geoffrey McGivern as his
alien travelling companion Ford Prefect.
