The final of this years 'Channel4: So You Think You're Funny' national
talent hunt has taken place at the Edinburgh Festival. Pole
postion was taken by comic Tom Wrigglesworth.
Wrigglesworth, a 27-year-old from Sheffield, is a
regular on the Comedy Club circuit, performing at events organised by, amoungst
others The Laughing Horse and Mirth Control. Second place was taken by Andrew Lawrence,
and Stuart Hudson beat off nearly 400 other hopefuls to take a respectable third
place. Scary musical-comic and Klingon look-a-like Bill Bailey
compared
the event, and sat on a panel of judges (possibly litterally) which included Bo
Selecta's Avid Merrion, several Channel 4 Executives, and Helen Hawkins of the
Sunday Times Culture Magazine.
Artistic Director of the Gilded Balloon, Karen Koren, which organises the
long-running competition, said: "They're all really good comics, and they've all
got a great future."
