Yes, it would appear that the lovable rogue has finally got
the message, and is to leave the country. Jim Davidson has confirmed that
he will be leaving Britain for good and will be emigrating to a life amongst
sand and camels in Dubai.
Davidson has had a string of difficulties in the UK in recent years.
His controversial comic-style and professional mannerisms have brought growing
criticisms throughout the comedy industry press (ed - but we're not
sorry), most recently culminating in him refusing to perform at a gig
because there were disabled people in the front row of the audience.
This comes on top of growing financial difficulties in which unpaid
taxes brought him close to bankruptcy in 2003.
In a recent interview with Des O'Connor, Davidson said: "I
just want a change and I never thought I'd get to that stage. I'm going to live
in the desert and I can't come back. I can go to Dubai and start again. I could
change my religion to Muslim and have four wives. Mind you I'd have four
mothers-in-law if I did that."
Before he leaves, Davidson has confirmed that he will record four standup
shows for television.
