A Rabbi, a Bishop and a Vicar go to a comedy night…
Sounds like the start of a bad joke, right? Could be an entire show of them
because the Liverpool Comedy Festival is putting a call out for religious
leaders to put their stand-up where their sermons are.
So far, the Festival organisers have already enlisted the involvement of
Sikh, Hindu, Methodist and Anglican preachers but are hoping that they can get
rabbis and Catholic priests to participate in the July event as well. A workshop
hosted by established stand-up comedians will be given prior to the show to help
prepare the ministers of mirth.
The show has been described as, “a unique way of celebrating the many faiths
in Liverpool,” and will, “show a lighter side to faith and religion.”
There’s a light side to the threat of eternal damnation?
