The London Comedy Festival is one of the most comprehensive collections of
comedy events of the year. We report on a large number of different comedy
festivals around the country, but to be honest, the capital chooses to
do it on a completely different scale (must be all the carbon-monoxide in
the air).
Running every day between the13th - 23rd May, the festival includes
everything that could be considered comedy, not just stand-up, but books,
theatre, tours and films. Venues range from swanky Soho clubs and theatres
to upstairs rooms of pubs - even somebody’s car! Many of the capital's
leading venues are involved, to bring a breath-taking lineup. The artists
taking part are far too numerous to mention them all here, but highlights
include Ed Byrne, Terry Alderton , Steven K Amos , Jenny Éclair, Jo Brand,
Antonio Forcione, Boothby Graffoe, Adam Hills, Gary Le Strange, John Moloney,
Julia Morris, Arthur Smith and Gina Yashere.
The Festival Director, Mike Bateman, said about the festival: "There is
probably nowhere else on earth that can match this city for its sheer diversity
of comic talent and venues, guaranteeing that wherever you are on whatever night
of the week you are never more than a short walk away from a good laugh.", and
Ken Livingston described it as: "A great addition to the attractions of
London".
The Festival events run from 13th to 23rd May at venues throughout
London. For full listings, further details and to make bookings visit http://www.londoncomedyfestival.com
