With more energy than the Big Bang, a team of comedy scientists are bringing
explosive, mind-blowing and unadulterated stand-up with an energy theme to the
Science Museum’s Dana Centre this summer.
The Punk Science team – who fuse Edinburgh style stand-up with serious
science lecture – will power through 45 minutes of laughs, demonstrations and
audience participation on the where, what and how of energy. Covering a
range of topics from poo-power to wind farms, hydrogen cars to nuclear energy,
the Punk Scientists provide a unique, witty and ultimately thought-provoking
take on the global energy crisis
Punk Science - Energy is part of a season of energy themed events, debates
and comedy nights (6 - 29 July 2004) at the Science Museum’s Dana Centre – the
UK’s newest venue for adults to tackle contemporary science. The series is
designed to compliment the Science Museum’s new gallery, Energy - fuelling the
future.
“We take the scary edge off science,” said Ben Samuel, Comic Performer and
Punk Scientist. “This is a fantastic opportunity to make science more accessible
to people. Not having a science background enables us to communicate the facts
and figures, without getting too stuffy and going over the average person’s
head."
Show show will be held at The Science Museum’s Dana Centre, 165 Queens
Gate, London, SW7 5HE, on Tuesday 6th, Tuesday 13th, and Tuesday 20th
July. Tickets are free but must be pre-booked by calling 020 7942 4040 or
emailing tickets@danacentre.org.uk.
