The 2004 Funny
Women contest has been won by Zoe Lyons. The former actress took home
the prestigious award, along with £2000 prize money in the finals of this years
talent search in London last week. She will now also get the opportunity to
appear at a special event at the Edinburgh Festival.
Despite previous television appearances, Lyons, who is from Brighton, is a
new-comer to the comedy scene, and has been doing stand-up for less than a
year.
Speaking about her win she said: "I’m pleased as punch, totally over the
moon. I can’t deny it I really, really wanted to win."
The £500 prize for second place went to Janice Phayre, with Anna Crilly taking
Third.
