Aaron Barschak, the standup comedian who gatecrashed Prince William's birthday party dressed as Osama Bin Laden, has been destroyed by police bomb-squad experts in a controlled explosion.

At least that's what senior politicians and security officials would probably like to happen after the 37 year-old comic exposed, in the words of home secretary David Blunkett, an "appalling failure of policing". 

After hearing Blunkett's statement a security official added that "He could have killed the entire Royal family had he been an armed attacker", in response to which, the Duke Of Edinburgh asked, "How would he know where to shoot?  Can guide dogs do that nowadays?".

In reality the police have had to announce that Barschak will not face charges after the Crown Prosecution Service advised them that there is no suitable charge to press.
