Welsh standup Rhod Gilbert has been awarded the BBC Three New Comedy
Award. Gilbert beat more than 600 of the UK's brightest up-and-coming
comics to take the award, which netted him a prize of £2,000 (possibly in used
fivers, but possibly not, at this time we just don't know).
Gilbert recieved great acclaim at the recent York Comedy Festival, which
included the Editor of Funny.co.uk on its judging pannel, and we
know good standup when we see it (otherwise we would be
called NotVeryFunny.co.uk, or RubberKettle.com or something).
Runners up, each receiving £1,000 included Greg Cook and Steve Hall.
