Lee Evans is to star in Mel
Brooks’ The Producers alongside Richard Dreyfus, which is due
to open in the
West End
in November.
The award-winning show is an
adaptation of Brooks’ award winning film about musical producer, Max Bialystock
(Dreyfus), and accountant, Leo Bloom (Evans), who devise a money making con to
produce a deliberately awful musical, Springtime For Hitler. Which then gets
them in trouble when it becomes a smash hit.
Evans and Dreyfus follow in the
footsteps of Matthew Broderick and Nathan
Lane from the Broadway production; and the original
film casting of Gene Wilder and Zero Mostel.
Tickets are on sale
now from the Theatre Royal Box Office on 0207 494 5000. The preview shows begin
on 22nd October with the opening night on 9th November at the Theatre Royal,
Drury Lane
.
