Dudley Moore and Peter Cook are to be reunited on the London stage. However,
rest assured that they are not being dug up and put on show (although I can't
help but think Peter Cook would find that an excellent idea for the start of a
sketch) - they are instead the subjects of a new play starring Kevin Bishop and
Tom Goodman Hill.
Pete and Dud: Come Again is not merely a tribute show to the pair, but an
attempt to reconstruct a very fondly remembered comedy duo and explain why the
partnership fell apart.
The show ran last year at the Edinburgh Fringe with some success, and has now
transferred to The Venue Theatre. Previews from 2nd March, full opening on 7th
March.
Fans of British comedy will remember the duo's famous sketches, including E L
Wisty the philosopher, Sir Arthur Streeb-Greebling and possibly the most famous
of all, the One-Legged-Tarzan sketch in which Moore tries vainly to convince
Cook that as a one-legged-man, he should still be considered for the role.
Pete and Dud were part of the very important satire explosion of the 1960's,
take a further look at what they got up to here.
