"Father Ted" star, and stand-up comedian, Ardal O'Hanlon is to make his west
end debut in October. He will be appearing opposite Nigel Havers in an
adapted French comedy called "See You Next Tuesday".
The story revolves around a successful publisher (Havers) and his group
of friends who every Tuesday hold a dinner party to which they must each invite
a dope. O'Hanlon is the dope that Havers has invited, a tax inspecter who
loves to make matchstick models of public buildings.
The play, a French farce adapted for the British stage by Ronald Harwood, was
originally written by Francis Verber who was also responsible for "La Cage Aux
Folles" which found worldwide acclaim when it was remade as the brilliant "The
Birdcage" with Robin Williams and Nathan Lane.
"See You Next Tuesday" opens at the Albery Theatre on the 2nd October,
following previews from the 17th September.
