I'm sure you all have your own favourite episode of early the 90's animated
childrens televsion series 'Chorlton & the Wheelies'. You'll have
watched the video over and over again until the tape wears out, possibly on
'frame-by-frame'. You'll have transcribed the episodes in intricate
detail, and maybe translated it into Hebrew or Russian. But, after a
while, watching the same material over and over and over again, can get
somewhat.... boring.
It's a kind of bordom that people watching Stand-up comedian and Entertainer
Jim Davidson will be only too familiar with. Watching the same tired old
jokes, delivered in the same uninspirred "working-mens club" style that had all
but died out many decades before. But our old friend Jim is having a few
problems at the moment. Problems with money. No, he's not had his card
swallowed by the cash-point, nor has he got a 20p coin stuck under his left
eye-lid (you only do that once). No, it appears he has not been
paying his taxes, as reported by the BBC (so sue them Jim, not us).
He was nearly made bankrupt after the Inland Revenue discovered he had been
defaulting on his tax payments. After a meeting with the Inland Revenue,
in which he characteristically insulted the Inland Revenue inspector who was
interviewing him for 'being a woman', he was ordered to pay back the taxes owed
at £30,000 a month.
If there are any charitable people out there who would like to assist the
situation, maybe if you could find a few unpaid parking tickets owed by Mr
Davidson, we can together help him reach that golden 'Bankrupt' status.
Maybe we'll even set up a Blue Peter-style 'Bankrupt-o-meter'.
