Now, we did promise not to talk about Aaron Barschak again, but we're making
a small exception for this little piece of 'comedy genius'. He's appeared in
court, in relation to an incident in which he threw paint over a piece of art
Turner nominees the Chapman brothers.
Barschak claims he was creating a new piece of art. The judge, showing
commendable common sense in the face of long lasting cliches told him "I may
well want to pass a custodial sentence to reflect my displeasure. I feel that
this was a publicity stunt and not a genuine attempt by you to create a work of
art."
"I'm not prepared to tolerate damage to works of art in Oxford or anywhere
else for that matter."
Barschak is waiting to hear whether he will get an actual jail sentence, but
he has been ordered to pay £300 in costs. Hopefully this will discourage him
from performing any more terrible acts of comedy. We can only
hope.
