It has been confirmed that a man phoned the offices of Lenny Henry's
management company and made death threats against him. The anonymous
caller said that he was going to cut off Henry's head and post it to them.
The management company alerted the Police, and it is suspected that the
incident might be racially motivated. At present, Bernard Manning's
whereabouts at the time of the incident are not known. The caller issued a
torrent of racist abuse before accusing Lenny Henry of destroying his sons
life.
Henry's agent Peter Bennett-Jones said: "We're used to getting racist
letters - I just ignore them. But this was different and more disturbing. When
people take the time to get my number and phone, I do worry."
